New England’s largest transportation center

Logan International Airport in Boston is located in East Boston although parts of it do bridge into Winthrop Massachusetts. It is believed to be one of the top 20 airports in terms of transportation serving nearly 26 million passengers annually. In terms of international travel, Logan Aiport is the 12th busiest in the United States. The full name of the airport is General Edward Lawrence Logan International Airport.
American Airlines, Airtran Airways and JetBlue all utilize Logan International Airport as a secondary hub, though it does not serve as a main hub for any airline. US Airlines does have a significant portion of their operations run through Logan. Unfortunately, in May 2010, Logan ranked as the 25th airport in terms of delayed departures and 23rd for delayed arrivals on domestic flights.
In 1956, Massachusetts turned over the authority of regulating Logan Aiport to Massachusetts Port Authority (Massport) with the understanding the airport would become self sustaining with no taxpayer support.
In addition to air travel, Logan Airport also has a subway station (MBTA), a two-tiered roadway system to ensure smoother travel in and out as well as a state-of-the-art and environmentally friendly terminal (A).
